Hobart is the capital city of Tasmania and in terms of European settlement, apart from Sydney, is the oldest in Australia. You can see all that in the wonderful old buildings as you walk around the town. Hobart is small compared to the mainland capitals and wandering the city is an easy option. And the state is small too. In fact within 90 minutes, you can drive from Hobart to several fabulous tourist destinations. In town the Salamanca Market on Saturdays is well worth a visit and Mount Wellington towers over the town where the view from the summit is breathtaking.
Arguably the most scenic location in Australia it is often forgotten because of its distance away but don't fall into the trap it is an amazing place to go.
