Tropical North Queensland is a popular backpacker destination. The place for the Great Barrier Reef, tropical rainforest and the coastal resort towns of Port Douglas, Cairns, the hinterland with the Atherton Tableands, and the drive to the north and Cape Tribulation.

The main entry point is Cairns airport has both domestic and international flights. Cairns transfers are cheap and for those who like to be organised can be booked ahead. The railway runs a Brisbane Cairns train or by bus Cairns Brisbane is possible in one long trip but most of us break the journey at the stoppign palces between Brisbane Cairns.
