The Macedon Ranges, Trentham and Spa Country
The Macedon Ranges are part of Australia’s Great Dividing Range and the state forest surrounds are beautiful with an abundance of native wildlife, mineral springs and over 20 wineries. Virtually all mineral springs in Australia are found in this region with over 70 springs around Daylesford and Hepburn alone. You can fill your own containers by hand pump and the flavor is indescribably good and of course the health benefits are amazing. If water tasting isn’t your thing, we recommend a smooth Shiraz from a small family winery in the Macedon Ranges or nearby Sunbury. International award winning wines also include Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
You must not pass by the charming village of Trentham
for several good reasons. A hike through Hanging Rock – an eerie
tale is told of the mysterious disappearance of four young girls from
a nearby boarding school whilst on a picnic outing in the 1800’s (ask
the locals) and a trip to Trentham Falls which is the highest waterfall
in the whole of Victoria. The serenity of the Macedon Ranges attracts all manner of visitors. Here you will find the Art Studios of printmakers, sculptors, painters, glass blowers, silversmiths and Koori art which tells the tales of the dreamtime.
